Home Glass — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Home Glass is an app for Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV that shows and controls your own smart home.
What we collect
Nothing. Home Glass has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of its own. We never receive your data.
What stays on your devices
- Apple Home (HomeKit): read and controlled on the device through Apple’s HomeKit framework, with your permission. Home data is used only to show and control your home. It is never used for advertising, never sold and never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Home Assistant: the app talks directly to your Home Assistant server. Its address is stored on the device; your access key is stored in the device Keychain. When you send this connection to an Apple TV, it goes directly from your device to the Apple TV over your home network.
- Your layout and settings (room order, names, icons, hidden devices, groups, widgets) are stored on the device.
iCloud
If iCloud is turned on for Home Glass, your layout and settings are kept in sync between your own devices through your private iCloud storage, run by Apple. We can’t see it.
Weather
To show the local forecast, Home Glass uses your approximate location, only with your permission, or the city you choose. The forecast comes from Apple Weather; if it isn’t available, your approximate coordinates are sent to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) to get the forecast.
Connections you choose to set up
Only if you set them up, Home Glass talks directly to these services or devices from your own device, with your own account, key or token. Keys and tokens are stored in the device Keychain. Nothing goes through us.
- Directly on your home network: Philips Hue bridge, Shelly devices, IKEA DIRIGERA hub, Somfy TaHoma box.
- Through the manufacturer’s official service: Samsung SmartThings, SwitchBot, Tuya · Smart Life, Aqara, Govee, LG ThinQ, Nuki, Home Connect (Bosch, Siemens, Neff and others).
- Apple Music (Apple’s MusicKit) and Spotify to play your music on your speakers.
- OpenAI or Google Gemini (image generation), only if you add your own API key, to draw an icon for a device: the description you type and the photo you choose are sent to the service you picked, with your key, when you tap Generate. Nothing is sent otherwise. Removing a photo’s background is done on the device.
Each service’s own privacy policy applies to what it receives from your device.
Purchases
Home Glass Pro and its free 7-day trial are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details.
Children
Home Glass is not directed to children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
